Original Album Classics : New release date

Although it has been available via the American Amazon.com since February 2 2010, in Sweden the compilation box set "Original Album Classics" has been missing in action. Originally it was scheduled for a March 24 2010 release, then for June 2, but soon thereafter the release info was changed to TBA (to be announced). Now it appears that the compilation box it back on track, and scheduled for a January 24 2011 release.

The box includes three albums; "Främling" (1983), "Steg för steg" (1984), and "My Tribute" (1993).

Carola had her first Christmas concert in Sweden 2010 yesterday. She performed at Conventum in Örebro (see photo above). Tonight she performs in Jönköping, and on Sunday the tour comes to an end with two concerts at Cirkus in Stockholm.

Three more "Elvis, Barbra & jag" concerts

Three more dates have been announced to Carola's upcoming tour "Elvis, Barbra & jag": Gävle (which will be the opening night) on March 24, Umeå on April 16, and Luleå April 17. Carola said recently in a Norwegian radio interview that she wants to take the tour to Norway as well, so that they get to see more of the rock'n'roll side to her.

Exclusive: Free concert in Hamar

Exclusive News: The day before her scheduled Christmas concert in Hamar, Norway, Carola will perform a free mini-concert at Østre Torg (the city square). Carola will be joined by guitarist Andrew Ehrenzeller, a local children's choir and a ballet ensemble.

"Carolas Jul 2010" tour starts today

Today, Carola's Christmas tour "Carolas Jul 2010—Från vinterskrud till morgonstjärnan" kicks off in Skien, Norway with two concerts. This is what Carola herself writes about the tour.

I never get tired of Christmas. When I’m on my Christmas tours, I’m often asked if I have the chance to get into Christmas spirit. My answer is yes. Sure it takes some extra planning, and often I have to buy last-minute gifts at various airports. But nothing can match the joy of celebrating the Christmas season with atmospheric vocals and music together with a great orchestra and an audience filled with anticipation. It is true fellowship and love for me. I never get tired of Christmas. It’s the cradle of my faith, my childhood memories and time of fellowship. But I have great sympathy for those for whom Christmas is a difficult time of loneliness. I miss my mom and dad more as the years pass by, but that's part of life. I rejoice in the memories I have of them. As time goes by, I see more and more of them in myself, which makes me happy and proud. This year I celebrate ten years since the first Christmas in Bethlehem concert and I’m so grateful for the authentic passion I’ve had the chance to convey here at home. My dream is that the Scandinavian and Palestinian audience would meet again in a Christmas concert in Bethlehem Square where we can share traditions and fellowship of God's greatest gift to humanity.

DVD release: "Carola sings Elvis & Barbra Streisand"

The new DVD "Carola sings Elvis & Barbra Streisand" is released in Sweden today. The concert was recorded at Dalhalla on July 3 2010 and includes songs like Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds" (video), "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" (video) and "In the Ghetto, and Barbra Streisand's "Somewhere" (video), "Papa, Can You Hear Me", and "Enough is Enough" (video). Swedish TV4 aired parts of the concert on August 26, but many songs on the DVD has not been previously shown (see full tracklisting below). If you haven't already—get your copy today!

Here is some exclusive Carola news:

The picture above is taken by Peter Karlsson at the taping of the Scandinavian talkshow "Skavlan" that airs on Friday in Sweden and Norway (check TV schedule here).

On the show, Carola and Sissel performed the duet "Välkommen hem" taken from Sissel's new album "Til Deg". You can listen to the song on Spotify (click here).

Carola confirmed that an album will be released next year with cover versions of Elvis and Barbra Streisand songs. That's what she's been working on in the studio lately.

Carola in duet with Sissel

Don't miss Carola in the popular talk show "Skavlan" on Friday. This is what the show's website says about Carola's participation:

"Two of Scandinavia's biggest stars, Carola Häggkvist and Sissel Kyrkjebö, sing together in a duet for the first time ever."

Sissel is an internationally recongized singer. She and Carola have often been compared to each other; both are major stars in their home countries, both were very young when they began their careers, both have played Maria von Trapp in the musical "Sound of Music", etc.

Why they are singing a duet is a mystery at the moment. Possibly they recorded a duet for Sissels upcoming album? We'll find out on Friday...
